Dear Families:
What a fun week we had. Only one more to go.
This last week Kindergarten celebrated Teddy Bear day. The students enjoyed bringing their teddy bears to school and going on parade with them around the school, measuring them with cubes to see how big they were, finding teddy bears around the room and learning how to tally them, sharing them with students from Mrs. Heider's class as they read their bear books, and using gummy bears to make a graph.
We learned two new characters from Animated Alphabet, Ichabod Ichthyosaurus and Chauncey Chipmunk. Look for these letters and sounds in your shared reading a point them out.
In math this week students learned how to look at numbers in groups of five as well as working with teen numbers and what it means to have ten plus another number to make a teen number. Have your student show you how to count teen numbers on their fingers.
Next week will be our last week before Winter Break. On Friday we will be combining our Holiday party with Gingerbread Day. These activities will be center based, and combined with a games and cookie decorating. They will take place earlier in the day so that students are still able to attend specials.
I look forward to a fun week and I hope your students do too. Please help give reminders, that while this is a fun week at school there is also work to be done! Give your teacher the gift of good behavior! :)
