I hope you all enjoyed your three day weekend. Teachers were in professional development yesterday and came away with some great material!
Reading - Students are continuing with their literature circles. Check with your student each night to see that they have done their required reading and completed their job. Book discussions are only strong when everyone is ready to participate. It would also be helpful for you to start some of that book discussion at home and model that with your child.
Language Arts - We are starting on our book summary project this week. Last week students had mini-lessons on summary writing. This week we will be applying those skills to writing a summary about the book they read on their own. I am modeling this each day with our classroom read aloud.
Social Studies - We are starting our fifth and final region this week - the West Region. Help your student finish strong by encouraging them to study nightly.
Math - This week in math we will be using the data your students collected about their TV watching habits. We will also continue to review division.
