Greetings from 5th grade!
This week in math . . .
We will finish up Unit 2. As long as there are no major interruptions I plan on giving the Unit test on Friday. Students need to be practicing their vocabulary words at home in preparation for the test. This test will cover vocabulary; expanded, word, and standard form of writing numbers; fact families; and multiplication. This test will also include several word problems. We have been practicing both compact and all-partial method of multiplication. Students will have a choice as to which method works best for them.
This week in writing and spelling . . .
We continue working on the mechanics of writing, specifically writing with quotes. In spelling we also continue to have our tests on Wednesday. This week we are on Unit 4. I try to send home a list of spelling words by Friday. If your child can not find their list they are welcome to bring home their spelling book to practice or use the website www.eduplace.com/kids/sv
Other news . . .
* Thursday, September 17 is Constitution Day
* Friday, September 18 students will meet our new counselor Ms. Sandy Leichti.
