We have reached the end of the 2nd trimester! Only one more to go!
Reading/Language Arts - Students will take an assessment for text structures this week, which has been the focus of our guided reading lessons this last trimester. We are also working on stories they wrote based off of Story Sparker cards that were handed out at random. The stories are being typed by students before revisions, to hopefully give us a different perspective as we critique our work, as well as others.
Math - This week my math class is focusing on some skills that need extra attention before the state assessment.
Social Studies - We have begun the Southeast Region this week and will probably finish up Chapter 6 before the weekend. Make sure that you are studying those vocabulary cards and maps a little bit every night. The test will not be given until the week after conferences. I will let you know the specific date when it has been determined.
Students had a great time with their Presidents Day lesson yesterday. We used math to determine the age of each president when he took the oath of office. Then we entered our numbers in Excel and had a quick lesson how to take our data and turn it into a graph.
Tuesday - Tonight students need to study for their spelling test. They also need to complete the study guide for Social Studies chapter 6. We will go over the answers tomorrow.
Wednesday - Students need to be studying their Southeast folder a little each night, as well as their study guide. We went over those today and they should have all the correct answers. My math class also received a particularly long worksheet today. This worksheet is not due until Monday - the next time we meet for math - but please don't let your students wait until Sunday night to finish.
