No School Friday - Teachers have Professional Development
In math this week...
On Monday we took our Unit 3 test. I will be sending those home this week for parent review and signatures. They should be returned to the classroom teacher as soon as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions.
This week we will begin Unit 4. This unit covers area, division, and averages. If you know that your child struggles with division begin working on this at home. Again, www.math-drills.com is a great place to find practice worksheets.
This week lessons will cover area and division.
In writing ...
I am very proud of those students who put in the extra time to enter the scary story contest. Those entries were submitted Monday morning. Look for results in the October 31 Pulse section of the Lawrence Journal World.
This week we will continue working on mystery/suspense stories.
Our spelling test this week is over compound words. I have had the students categorize these into three lists: one word, two words, and hyphenated words. This should make studying easier. This week the test will be on Thursday so start studying early!
Other important information:
* Science City Field Trip permission slips and money are due next Monday. Please return those as soon as possible. I still need one more parent volunteer for this trip.
* Book orders are due Thursday. Make one check to Scholastic.
* Make sure you are checking Mr. Hegeman's and Ms. King's Blogs for important information. There is a S. Studies test next Monday and review sheets went home Oct. 19.
* Three more parent volunteers are needed for the KU Women's Basketball Field Trip.
